Worthing Heat Network Project Update – Steyne Gardens

We would like to thank residents, businesses, and visitors for their patience while the construction programme to connect the Worthing Heat Network to Splashpoint Leisure Centre and the Pavillion Theatre has been finalised, following updated ground investigations carried out recently.
We appreciate that the community is eager to see Steyne Gardens returned for public use as soon as possible. We can now confirm that, from Monday 18 May, works will begin to reinstate sections of the gardens so that the ground can recover and the grass can regrow, allowing us to hand back part of the gardens for the public to enjoy.
At the same time, you will see our teams preparing for the installation of underground pipework within a smaller working area in the northern portion of the gardens. This means that instead of digging trenches across Brighton Road and the gardens, we’ll be digging small pits and installing the pipework between High Street Multi-Storey Car Park and Steyne Gardens using underground drilling.
These activities will take place between 18 May and 25 June. We are committed to completing works and restoring and vacating the gardens ahead of Armed Forces Day to ensure the town centre’s key events can continue as normal.
We would like to reassure residents and visitors that traffic will continue to flow as usual, no road closures are planned, and the High Street Multi-Storey Car Park will remain open throughout the works. Much of the activity will involve underground drilling to minimise disruption at surface level.
